You are invited to join us for the second webinar in the Cavendish Lecture Series where the focus will be on the Status of the Global Steel Industry, its Future Direction and Key Challenges.
Executive summary:
- The steel industry experiences dramatic and volatile market conditions at present, but will continue to thrive in the decades ahead.
- The foundations of the steel industry today has been formed by the experiences in the mature economies during the decades of the 70s, 80s and 90s of the previous century.
- This century has been defined largely by China thus far.
- The future will need to adjust not only regional diversification, but also political fragmentation. Above all, the challenge of decarbonisation will be a defining challenge for the steel industry in the next few decades.
- Despite these challenges, growth in demand will continue at a global level, and by 2050 the industry will be around 20% larger than it is today.
- Ours remains a vital and exciting industry.
